"Mieruka" (Visualization) Solutions

Reducing Inventories and Promoting Just-in-Time (JIT) Production and Delivery

Accurately grasping the flow of goods in all processes, from raw material procurement to manufacturing and shipment, helps reduce inventory and enables just-in-time (JIT) production and delivery, which in turn significantly reduces the total cost of logistics. The Yamato Group, centered on Yamato System Development, leverages IT to provide a wide range of integrated "Mieruka" Solutions that visualize and manage the flow of goods across individual factories and distribution centers.

The Internet Wholesale Business Utilizing the Yamato Group's "Mieruka" Solutions
Shortening the Distribution Route and Reducing the Purchase Price

There is also an example of a food wholesale company utilizing the Yamato Group's low cost "Mieruka" Solutions for a new business venture. This wholesaler had business transactions mostly with major retail stores, but later began selling to small scale retail businesses in depopulated areas as a new business venture.
However, as the order volume in each transaction is small, if the company which had mainly dealt with large scale retail companies chooses to utilize its conventional distribution system or in-house delivery network, it would result in a waste of resources. Thus, the company decided to use the TA-Q-BIN infrastructure of Yamato Transport as well as the Online Wholesale Business solution which uses the "Mieruka" Warehouse Management System @ web and "Mieruka" Distribution Process Optimization @ web to address this issue.

Merchandise such as processed foods and snacks that are handled by several distribution centers, and food merchandise that is directly delivered by the manufacturer are initially delivered to Yamato Transport's pickup center. From there, merchandise is delivered by TA-Q-BIN as each order comes in from small retailers.
The company can now consolidate the entire management of inventories as well as receiving and shipment status of products at each business location using the "Mieruka" Distribution Process Optimization @ web to connect the existing warehouse management system (WMS) and "Mieruka" Warehouse Management System @ web to the electronic data interchange (EDI). When an order is placed over the Internet, shipment forwarding information is transmitted to the Yamato Transport pickup center. Based on this information, products are sorted, packed and then shipped. Using Yamato Transport's TA-Q-BIN tracking system, the company can also verify delivery to the retailer. The Yamato Group can also process cash on delivery or credit card settlement on behalf of the company.

"Once the online wholesaler gets on track, it does not need to use its own shipment network and can expand the number of transactions with smaller customers. Now, small- and mid-size retail partners can offer a broader product line up than was ever possible before. This will shorten the distribution path, which will reduce the purchase price," explains Kanamaru about the advantages of the solution.
